Overview
The Automatic Benchtop Hydraulic Pellet Press from Imperial Instruments is a precision-engineered laboratory press designed for reliable FTIR and XRF sample preparation. This versatile pellet press converts powdered materials into uniform, high-density pellets and discs, ensuring consistent, reproducible analytical results. Available in force capacities ranging from 2 tons up to 150 tons, this pellet press series supports everything from routine FTIR KBr pellet preparation to high-pressure XRF pelletizing for mineral, cement, metal oxide, and geological samples. Its compact benchtop design combined with fully automatic hydraulic operation makes it ideal for research labs, analytical laboratories, universities, and industrial QA/QC facilities. Works with all Imperial die sets — circular, splitable, heated (up to 300–500 °C), and square.

Compatible accessories
Every model in the range accepts circular, square, splitable and heatable Imperial die sets.
Standard (circular)
Designed for producing high-quality pressed pellets for laboratory analysis, including FTIR (such as KBr pellets) and XRF applications. With precision-engineered components and mirror-polished pressing surfaces, they ensure smooth, uniform pellets and reliable analytical results. Available in diameters from 2 mm to 150 mm.
300 °C – 500 °C, with temperature controller
Designed for pellet preparation under controlled heating conditions, where temperature plays a critical role in pellet quality. Supplied with an integrated temperature controller, they enable precise heating during pressing to enhance pellet uniformity and bonding.
Fast demoulding and non-circular geometries
Splitable die sets give fast, easy demoulding for complex or delicate pellets. Square die sets support non-circular sample geometries required in specialised testing.
40 mm, with steel ring
Ring die sets provide precise and uniform pellet formation for FTIR and XRF sample preparation, holding the sample in a defined steel ring during compaction.
